Each clinical shift, I am expected to perform a variety of skills, including inserting a catheter, flushing a saline lock, cleaning a wound, and doing a dressing change. These reference cards highlight the important points of each skill and keep me organized during my shift.

You can print the PDF below, cut/laminate/hole-punch the cards, and put them around a binder ring. These will fit easily in scrub pockets. Card topics include catheter insertion, catheter removal, deep breathing and coughing instructions, incentive spirometer instructions, priming iv line checklist, flushing saline lock instructions, and instructions for preparing a minibag.

Note: These are by no means complete instructions, but designed to help highlight the key points of each skill!
